The clients invested in a long and narrow block with a 3x1 character house that they wanted to turn into a 4x2. The rear is accessible from a lane so it could be used for an additional access to the dwelling.
Minor changes were done to the existing dwelling - only the existing kitchen is replaced by a new bathroom and relocated into the extension. The clients wishes was to enjoy the backyard and have the living areas directly connected to the outdoor with a spacious alfresco and semi inground pool. In terms of materials, we chose to use white render in contrast with black exposed steel beams. Elements such as gutters are made unobtrusive to enhance the minimalism and elegance of the extension.
We would regularly meet with the clients on site at different hours of the day to thoroughly work on the sun path and come up with a bright, simple and functional space they will enjoy forever!
